Voice Of an Angel
Christine Ben-Ameh is one of those individuals that is exceptionally talented yet, unfortunately, underplayed. With the voice of an angel and a personality to match, Christine has seen her fair share of sacrifice and disappointments on her quest to her goals, reminding us that the road to success is not always paved with diamonds and roses. Despite all the pitfalls, her character allows her to daily look past it all, staying focused on her goals and enduring the situations thrown in her path.
Born on October 12th, 1986, despite her not being able to talk till after her 2nd birthday, Christine wrote her first song at the age of 9, and sang in public for the first time at 10 as a form of punishment on her second day of secondary school in 1997 for being late to dining.
On and off, she has been in the choir but for some reason, is never able to last in a choir environment for long. Lol.
After secondary school, in 2003, she recorded her first demo which she describes as “a disaster” (random observation, why is everybody’s first demo disasterous? Lol). The same year, she got into the University of Jos to study mass communications and in her second year, MTN Telecomms organised a small promo talent show that she won, after which she travelled to Lagos, but nothing came out of it. About a year later in 2006, she entered a natonal singing competition called “Nokia First Chance”, a reality tv show that aired on NTA and Silverbird. The winner was promised a million Naira, endorsement deals, a million Pound worth recording deal with a record company in the UK, worldwide distribution of the album, 3 music videos shot in 30mm and a trip to the UK. She won, got the trip and the money… But nothing else. Ever since then, its been a struggle, and as she says “its not so hard ‘cos I love this music and its me. I could never abandon me..”
